Department: Operations   Reports To: HMI Supervisor and/or Operations Manager   Location: Brooks, OR.   Job Type &  Shift: Full Time On-Site Monday – Friday 6:00AM -  4:30PM occasional Saturday Job Summary: The Recycling Sorter is responsible for sorting and identifying different types of materials, such as Cardboard, wood, concrete, and metal, and separate them for proper recycling and/or disposal bins. Key Responsibilities:    
  1. Sorting
  • Work together with entire sorting crew to assure high levels of separation and recovery from waste materials.
  • Sort materials from conveyor sorting system.
  • Handle source separated materials and place in appropriate containers.
  • Maintain an acceptable and orderly appearance on the sortline conveyor belt.
  • Operate sorting machines and other equipment, properly and in safe manner following all safety procedures.
  • Clean processing floor and/or sortline conveyor belt to remove any debris to help reduce blowing of trash outside facility.

  • Immediately report all accidents to operations supervisor and/or operations manager
  • Wear and maintain proper safety devices to insure protection from injury or illness.
  • Operate the equipment in a manner to ensure safety of the fellow workers.
  • Report all unsafe conditions to the operations supervisor.
  • Attend all safety meetings.
  QUALIFICATIONS:      
  • Ability to accurately sort recyclable material in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to identify various products and types of material.
  • Ability to walk up stairs
  • Enough physical strength to properly lift 50lbs, from sortline conveyor belt to floor and/or bin.
  WORKING CONDITIONS / ENVIRONMENT: 
  • Occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions.
