Not yet, but it’s something we’re working to offer in the future as a way of bringing our local waste cycle full circle — taking your yard clippings and food scraps and returning them to your garden!
In 2025, we’re expecting to process 400,000 tons of waste, recovering nearly 75,000 tons for repurposing. It’s projected that by 2038, we’ll be processing 500,000 tons with over 100,000 tons diverted away from landfills.
In 2025, we’re projected to recover nearly 20%—close to 75,000 tons—of the waste we process. By 2038, we estimate that number will grow to 100,000 tons.
Re:Source processes waste and recycling for Marion County, Oregon. We recover and sort reusable materials from construction and demolition debris, curbside collection hauls, and local transfer stations. Then, we consolidate loads to efficiently transport waste to the landfill and recycling to repurposing facilities.
Material recovery is the reclaiming of items that can be recycled and reused from our community’s waste — things like wood, metal, concrete, plastic, and cardboard. This helps divert waste away from landfills and conserve our natural resources.
Municipal waste is all of the everyday items our community discards. This includes garbage, recycling, and organics that are collected curbside or at county transfer stations.
There’s a saying used to identify what can be placed in curbside organic waste carts: “If it grows, it goes!” Organic waste is made up of yard debris (such as leaves and grass clippings) and all foods, from banana peels and coffee grounds to the expired leftovers in your fridge.
Re:Source intakes waste and recycling from construction and demolition sites, curbside collection companies, local transfer stations, and the general public.
This includes:
- Municipal waste
- Organics
- Commingled Recycling (paper, plastic, tin, aluminum)
- Cardboard
- Wood
- Metal
- Concrete
Re:Source recovers rock, wood, scrap metal, tin and aluminum, compostable organics, recyclable plastics, and cardboard.
The waste you set out curbside or take to county transfer stations is brought to Re:Source. We process that waste to recover usable materials, then compact residuals into efficient loads for transport to Coffin Butte Landfill outside Corvallis, OR and Wasco County Landfill located in The Dalles.
Local organic waste is collected and brought to Re:Source, where we consolidate those loads for transport to Pacific Region Compost located near Corvallis, OR. There, it’s processed into compost and sold to resellers and area farms.
After you leave your recycling at the curb on collection day, or drop it off at your local recycling depot, it’s taken to Re:Source. We then transport it to final processing facilities for repurposing.
