LEED Certification Tracking
In 2026, Re:Source also gained approval to assist with LEED project tracking, a service we’re excited to implement to help Marion County contractors go green.
What is LEED certification?
LEED is a globally recognized green building rating system. To achieve LEED certification, a building project must complete a series of prerequisites, then earn points by meeting various requirements, including making sure construction and demolition waste is processed to reclaim recyclable materials. Taking Waste Full Circle
Thanks to local recycling partners like Cherry City Metals, Freres Engineered Wood, Knife River, and Republic Salem Recycling Center, the waste from one construction project can go on to support the next.
- Scrap metal is turned into new materials like rebar, beams, and wire.
- Wood is chipped and burned as fuel at Freres Engineered Wood’s cogeneration plant, providing power for their manufacturing facilities and sending extra electricity to the local grid.
- Rock and concrete are recycled into aggregates for use in construction and roadwork.
- Cardboard is turned into new paper products.
Keeping these valuable materials close to home helps cut down on transportation costs and emissions while also supporting the local economy. It’s a sustainable cycle that proves when we work together to reduce waste and save resources, our entire community wins.
