A Better Way to Get Waste From Point A to Z

At Re:Source, we’re working to improve every aspect of waste management. That means not just accepting and processing waste more efficiently, but also minimizing the negative impacts of waste transportation.

Better for Haulers

Re:Source’s convenient local facility acts as a central hub for Marion County waste haulers. This reduces the distances haulers must drive within the county to dispose of weekly garbage and recycling pickups as well as C&D drop box waste.

Better for Our Community

Reduced hauling distances, combined with compacting waste into more efficient loads, means less traffic and road wear on local streets and highways. In addition, the cost savings of transporting more waste in fewer trips helps minimize increases to waste disposal rates for residential and commercial customers.

Better for Our Planet

More efficient compacting and transportation also reduces fuel consumption and carbon emissions, lowering the environmental footprint of each load. And nearly 20% of the waste we transport is headed for recycling facilities instead of the landfill.

Waste’s Final Route

Compacting

With the latest technology of our updated compacting machinery, we’re able to tightly pack waste into heavier loads so that more can be hauled in fewer semi-truck loads.

The Positive Impact

  • Consolidates waste from 4 collection trucks into a single 29-ton load
  • Eliminates 1,150 semi-truck loads of waste from Highway 99, reducing traffic and road wear
  • Saves over 20,000 gallons of fuel annually, lowering our carbon footprint
  • Reduces waste transportation costs by over 25%, allowing us to reinvest in more sustainable initiatives

Transport to Repurposing Facilities

Recovered materials such as plastic, paper, glass, metals, and organic materials are taken to approved processing facilities for recycling and composting. Wood residuals are taken to Freres Engineered Wood to be burned as biofuel.

Transport to Landfills or Incinerators

Waste that cannot be reclaimed or repurposed is transported to Coffin Butte Landfill located outside of Corvallis, OR. While this is still a necessary part of the waste management system, we’re working to reduce the amount of waste delivered to the landfill.

Frequently Asked Questions

After you leave your recycling at the curb on collection day, or drop it off at your local recycling depot, it’s taken to Re:Source. We then transport it to final processing facilities for repurposing.

The waste you set out curbside or take to county transfer stations is brought to Re:Source. We process that waste to recover usable materials, then compact residuals into efficient loads for transport to Coffin Butte Landfill outside Corvallis, OR and Wasco County Landfill located in The Dalles.

Local organic waste is collected and brought to Re:Source, where we consolidate those loads for transport to Pacific Region Compost located near Corvallis, OR. There, it’s processed into compost and sold to resellers and area farms.
